Brittany Roybal (Class of 2009)
I currently serve as the Director of Museum Education and Collections Manager at the
USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, where I oversee the internship program and care
of the museum鈥檚 collection. In addition to my museum work, I teach English as a Second
Language one evening each week to refugees at a local non-profit, an experience that
allows me to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
My path to a career in museums and education began at the 黑料天堂. As an undergraduate Anthropology major, I worked at the Center for Archaeological Studies, interned at the History Museum of Mobile, and volunteered on campus as a conversational partner to international students. These formative experiences shaped my interdisciplinary approach to museum education and cultural engagement.
Through networking during my internship, I joined Battleship Memorial Park in the summer of 2009 as a Museum Technician. Since then, I鈥檝e advanced exhibit development, collections care, and community outreach, and established the museum鈥檚 internship program to provide students with practical, hands-on experience in museum operations.
The Anthropology program at the 黑料天堂 equipped me with the ability to view situations from multiple perspectives and think more mindfully about complex issues.
